If it is possible to hear a musical resemblance to the singers Kate Bush or Regina Spektor, this 22 year old Lithuanian writer, composer and performer transcends the comparison with her latest opus. Alina Orlova was interested in art at a very young age. She was first an illustrator, then invented – to go with her arresting, naive drawings – a pop sound able to transform a tenacious melancholy into melodic haiku. Sung in Lithuanian, Russian and English, her songs tell short stories and emotional progressions, sung high, lyrically, tautly. There are songs of a stubborn little girl unwilling to compromise, borderline, even panicked. Alina Orlova is a multi-faceted artist, wild and free, lighting up the international pop-folk scene with her raw, blazing talent.
