Chick Corea and Gary Burton have kept up their musical conversation since 1972, when they did their first duo at the Jazz Festival of Munich. Chick Corea is of course a living legend, a virtuoso pianist known for his intricate, hybrid explorations. As for Gary Burton, he is one of those jazz musicians whose relationship to his instrument is so strong that his influence extends far beyond any single musical sphere. Between the pianist and the vibraphonist the osmosis is infinite, their improvisations free to go in any and all directions. The two friends know each other so well that they anticipate each other’s modulations, constantly challenging and stimulating each other. It’s the highest level of jazz, a fluid, inventive sound. This exceptional face-to-face concert is absolutely not to be missed.
