Zimmermann & de Perrot

“Hans was Heiri,” which literally means “Jean like Henri,” also means “six of one and half a dozen of the other.” Or, “anything goes” and “it’s all one,” according to the Swiss duo of Zimmermann & de Perrot. Objects or human beings, we all come out of the same barrel! An unfortunate uniformity against which the two pals, well known to audiences at La Filature who discovered them a few years ago – battle in this confection of mischief and fun. Pitched between circus, dance and theatre, they show us the tiny, nearly invisible differences and details. This wordless, baroque, intriguing and poetic piece resembles them exactly. Zimmermann & de Perrot have a talent for revealing what is hidden, for piercing the shell of appearance, using the movements of the seven performers, the objects that are manipulated, and the sounds which disturb the spirit. The piece is precisely and skillfully crafted, while also proclaiming the joy we feel at being together in this way, united yet unique.
